Ghanaian Sports Journalist, Veronica Commey, has been named as the new deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

This appointment will enable her to transition from media to sports administration, after her appointment was announced on Monday, March 24, 2025, by Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, at the commencement of a sports psychology training event at the Accra Sports Stadium.

A journalist with unwavering allegiance to the development of sports, Commey, a long-standing member of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), brings a wealth of experience to her new position.

She will assume the role as one of two deputies to colleague journalist and current Acting Director General of the NSA, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah. The other associate director general is sports administrator, Gideon Hammond.

Commey's journalistic background and her extensive knowledge of sports business, having served as the Chief Sports Journalist at the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and also serving as the Media Officer for Team Ghana during the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in France in 2018, makes her competent and well-suited for this fresh challenge.
