Black Stars Management Committee Vice Chairman, Stephen Appiah, has expressed confidence in Ghana’s ability to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following their dominant performances in the latest round of qualifiers.

Ghana strengthened their position at the top of Group I with a commanding 3-0 victory over Madagascar on Monday in Morocco, extending their lead to five points.

The win followed an emphatic 5-0 triumph over Chad in Accra last Friday, putting the Black Stars in a strong position with four matches remaining in the qualification campaign.

Appiah, who captained Ghana to their first-ever World Cup in 2006 and played in two editions of the tournament, joined the Black Stars' technical team in January as part of the team’s restructuring.

Speaking to 3Sports after Ghana’s win over Madagascar, he urged fans to continue supporting the team and expressed optimism about their qualification prospects.

“We still have four games to play. When we played against Chad, it was amazing; we were not expecting something like that. So bring back the love,” Appiah said.

“We thank them for their support; they’ve been amazing. They should continue praying for us, for the team, and for sure we will be in America,” he added.

With Ghana leading Group I, the Black Stars are on course to secure a fifth World Cup appearance, having previously featured in the 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022 tournaments. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
