Yaw Preko, a former Ghana international and past coach of Nsoatreman FC, has urged the Black Stars to press for victory when they meet Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana return to action in September for Matchday 7 and 8, starting with an away fixture against Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4, before hosting Mali in Accra four days later.

“We know what is at stake now, and if you look at our performance in our last games, the players should go into the games with that same determination,” Preko told Asempa FM.

“Playing against Chad will not be easy, but we have to be vigilant and also get the right players for that game because we are playing on astro turf. But I strongly believe we have what it takes to win against Chad,” he added.

The Black Stars top Group I with 15 points from six matches, holding a three-point lead over Comoros and five ahead of Madagascar as they chase a fifth appearance at the global showpiece.

Otto Addo’s squad is scheduled to assemble in Accra on September 1 before flying out for the crucial tie.
