Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has pledged closer collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) to boost sports and community development, following a high-level meeting in Ankara.

Sports Minister Kofi Iddi Adams met TİKA President Abdullah Eren at the agency’s headquarters, where both sides reviewed ongoing projects and explored new areas of support.

TİKA has been active in Ghana since 2012, implementing interventions ranging from school renovations and hospital equipment supplies to agricultural support and vocational training.

“These are not just projects; they are initiatives that touch lives directly and contribute to building the human capital we need for growth. Ghana values this partnership deeply,” Adams said, noting the government’s appreciation for TİKA’s work.

Eren praised Ghana’s stability and investment climate, reaffirming TİKA’s readiness to expand into youth and sports-focused programmes. “Sports is a driver of development, and we are committed to supporting Ghana in this area,” he said.

The Minister outlined priority areas for cooperation, including sports medicine, management, and the development of community parks and academies to harness Ghana’s talent pool.

TİKA welcomed these proposals and urged the ministry to submit a formal plan for technical and financial support.

The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthen Ghana–Türkiye relations, which date back to 1958, and to broaden TİKA’s role in education, agriculture, health and sports.
