Reuniting seven months on from a three goal thriller in the second round of last season, where Karela went to Dormaa to defeat the Fire Boys. This weekend Aduana and Karela vie for precious Premier League points at Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Fire Gazers were nearly conquered by Vision FC last weekend as they luckily managed a goalless draw to exit Tema New Town with one point.
Match Preview
Before attention turns to their trip against fierce neighbors’ Berekum Chelsea in the second week of December, Yaw Acheampong’s men have a daunting November schedule to navigate; the international break will provide some respite, but the Fire Boys must also pit their wits against Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko in a pair of matchday 11 and 12 Ghana Premier League fixtures over the next two weeks.
The Dormaa titans have lost their touch this season, having had a difficult start into the season as they currently crawl to 15th place with 8 points on the league table.
Karela failed to respond in their last weekend’s game against Nations FC as they defensively collapsed in the latter part of the second half - which ultimately proved costly - forcing a 1-0 loss into their throats, just as it did against Basake Holy Stars in Premier League gameweek six.
The visitors' twelve-placed (on 9 points) standing under the Premier League's experienced-ever permanent coach is not commendable, as is their commitment to entertaining the neutrals; Karela’s last seven games have seen a total of 5 goals at an average of one per match.
Team News
No player has exited the Aduana infirmary with a serious injury.
Although there is an injury situation in camp, however, Acheampong is not expecting any member of the injured squad back before the international break - but he is not exactly bereft of options for change.
The former Ghana international might rotate his squad heavily this weekend and will now weave-in players ready to kill to play and give him a win to the starting lineup.
Meanwhile, Karela’s defensive efforts could improve as they aim to pull their winning strings this Sunday, November 10 at Dormaa Ahenkro.
Aduana possible starting lineup:
Masawudu; Adams (C), Agyemang, Amoako, Amponsah, Bamba, Boateng, Duah, Obeng, Sackey, Torsutsey
Karela possible starting lineup:
Ganiu (GK) (C), Abdul, Aboubakar, Adams, Konadu, Asigre, Gariba, Kunate, Latif, Muhammed, Yaya
We say: Aduana 1-3 Karela
Goals at both ends of the pitch are usually a guarantee whenever Jimmy Cobblah’s Karela are involved, but the Pride and Passion' attacking success should mean a great deal against the shambolic defence that the Fire Boys has to offer.
As Acheampong is likely to revert to his strongest possible XI - even with Asante Kotoko on the horizon - Karela should return to winning ways in the Premier League with relative heartbreaking ease away at Dormaa.
