Draw specialists Heart of Lions achieved another unprecedented Ghana Premier League feat when they played as guests to Karela United in Sunday afternoon's contest at the Aliu Mahama Stadium
The Kpando based outfit had to accept a 0-0 draw with Vision FC in last weekend's matchday 6 encounter, while the efforts of Jimmy Cobblah’s men were in vain during a 1-0 loss to newly-promoted Holy Stars.
Match Preview
Heart of Lions are comfortably in mid-table obscurity in 8th place ahead of their visit to Karela, where they will aim to cause problems for the home side.
However, Bashir Hayford’s men have also conceded one goal in one of their head-to-head showdowns.
However, Lions have notched five times in their last six top flight games this season, while Cobblah’s men have not really come good in the final third, scoring four times in their last six games in the ongoing campaign.
Team News
Jimmy Cobblah is expected to field a strong side that will cause a strong problem against the ever-tactical Bashir Hayford whose boys could come good if they put the tactics of their gaffer into good utilization on the field of play.
Hayford will not make sweeping changes to his Lions setup after a valiant effort last Saturday, posting a goalless draw with Vision FC at Kpando Stadium.
Karela possible starting lineup:
Ganiu (GK) (C); Abdul, Aboubakar, Aidoo, Konadu; Asigre, Gariba; Kunate, Latif, Nurudeen; Yahaya
Heart of Lions possible starting lineup:
Osei (GK); Abban, Addo, Anim, Boateng, Danso, Hennessy, Obeng Junior, Sakyi, Tetteh, Yakubu
We say: Karela 2-2 Heart of Lions
Lions early-season results do not paint the full picture for Hayford’s side, who have faced several big-hitters early on, and the goal-happy visitors are not short of attacking options ready to capitalise on Karela’s home defensive woes.
Keeping the ball out of their own goal remains a serious issue for the hosts, but as Lions have a habit of letting leads slip, we can envisage Karela biting back to earn a point, albeit one that extends their painful wait for their second win.
