Accra Lions' woes deepen after being held by Karela United to a pulsating goalless draw in an outstanding GPL week 20 clash at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The game started on a good note but the two sides looked calm and relaxed in the early stages having focused much on keeping the ball to themselves without any incursions in the opening minutes.

Accra Lions goalkeeper Daniel Afful in the fourth minute mark, mistakenly gifted a pass to Ibrahim Giyas but the striker blasted wide beyond target for a goal-kick.

The homesters subsequently took over the game and had a large share of both possession and shots on target but weren't dangerous enough to put them ahead especially in the first half.

Back from recess, both teams effected some substitutions hoping to get back on shape and probably conjure the magic for them to snatch the opener

In the 55th minute, Asigri Mohammed was served with a very huge scoring opportunity but failed to make it count, Ezedeen followed up but his connection wasn't directed goal-ward.

The Blue-Blacks subsequently pushed more men forward and created series of chances but all proved futile as it finished goalless after full-time

Accra Lions remain at foot of the table with just 17 points and will host regional rivals Legon Cities FC in the next round of matches.

Karela United however, are also in the danger zone with 19 points will welcome Bechem United to the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex next.
