Berekum Chelsea found themselves on the right side of a nervy win at home to Nations FC in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
In a meeting between two sides who have different aspirations, but those at the Golden City were fortunate to witness as many as one goal.
Stephen Amankona's first-half (29th minute) goal proved to be the difference in a game which didn't have many immediate ramifications. Three more points still leaves Berekum Chelsea 15 adrift of Bibiani Gold Stars, while Nations FC remain in second place.
Nations FC took advantage of the Bibires passivity and grew into an increasingly even contest.
The half-time interval punctured Nations FC's growing momentum. With the words of coach Kasim Mingle urging them to go for the kill as they intend to make a statement and win the league - still ringing in their ears.
The Bibires tightened up the stitching of their midfield and defensive lines, firmly engaging the handbrake. There were just a few shots across the entire second 45 minutes, only three of which forced saves from either underwhelming goalkeeper and not one was from a roughly threatening position.
