Akwasi Sarpong scored his second goal of the season to lead Samartex to a narrow 1-0 Ghana Premier League victory over Berekum Chelsea at the Nsenkyire Stadium.

The big news before the contest was the inclusion of Isaac Afful, who was thrown straight into the starting lineup after his Black Stars  call-up.

Afful made a promising start to proceedings in the left side of defense, but his teammate Sarpong - a former midfielder of Skyy FC blasted home to give the Timber Giants the victory with his 56th minute goal.

From nearly doubling their advantage, Nurudeen Amadu’s side put together a great performance, putting together some good high tempo play.

The Timber Giants ultimately saw out the remainder of the contest to clinch all three points, moving them to the 5th spot of the table with 13 points, while the Bibires moved down to 6th place with 13 points.

While the Timber Giants celebrated their third victory, Berekum Chelsea were left to reflect upon their first Premier League defeat after going seven games without being bounced.
