Vision FC celebrated a landmark win in the Ghana Premier League by defeating Accra Lions 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 16, 2024.
Elijah Addai and Emmanuel Kyei Baffour scored late in each half to secure the victory for the visitors, marking a historic achievement for Vision FC.
Despite dominating the first half, Accra Lions failed to capitalize on their opportunities. Striker Lucky Nwafor came close twice in the early minutes but could not find the net.
Musa Hamzata tested Vision FC goalkeeper Michael Abraham with a long-range drive before Vision FC broke the deadlock. Issah Kuka, formerly of Hearts of Oak, delivered a precise crossfield pass to Addai on the right flank. The ex-Bofoakwa Tano winger controlled the ball expertly and lofted it over Lions' goalkeeper Kwame Bonsu to give Vision FC the lead.
After the break, Accra Lions pressed for an equalizer with attempts from Salman Faris and Nwafor. Apiiga's crosses from the left troubled the visitors, but Vision FC’s defense held firm to deny the hosts.
In the closing minutes, Addai burst into the box and set up Kyei, whose initial shot was blocked but eventually ricocheted back to him, allowing him to score and seal the 2-0 victory.
