Godfred Arthur’s dramatic stoppage-time winner gave Bibiani Goldstars a famous 2–1 away win against Heart of Lions in an exciting Ghana Premier League match at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Coming into the game after a strong 3–0 home win over Basake Holy Stars in Matchday 22, the Miners were full of confidence. They played with energy and creativity, and their effort was rewarded in the end.
Heart of Lions started the match brightly and looked the better side early on. The Dzie Woa Nu created several good chances and kept pushing Goldstars back. Their pressure paid off in the 36th minute when Seedorf Asante calmly scored to give Heart of Lions the lead as they capped a strong first-half performance.
After the break, Bibiani Goldstars improved and slowly took control in some stages of the match. They matched Lions intensity and began to find openings in attack. In the 76th minute, Samuel Atta Kumi brought the visitors level with a well-taken goal, quietening the home fans and setting up a tense finish.
Both teams searched for a winner in stoppage time, but it was Goldstars who had the final say. In the 97th minute, Godfred Arthur kept his cool to score a late winner, sparking huge celebrations from the visiting supporters and leaving Heart of Lions disappointed.
The victory lifts Bibiani Goldstars to second place on the table with 42 points, boosting their title hopes. Heart of Lions drop to eighth with 30 points after a game they started well but could not finish strongly.
