Basake Holy Stars recorded their first-ever win of the 2025-26 season’s campaign against Bibiani Goldstars on Sunday afternoon.
First-half goals from Prince Opoku and Prince Tweneboah ensured Basake Holy Stars a sweet home victory over last season’s Premier League champions in the match-week nine fixture at AAK Park in Aiyinase.
Holy Stars dominated the early minutes, with Sadat Zumah coming close to scoring the opener in the 10th minute. However, he was denied by Goldstars goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi.
The home side continued mounting pressure on the defence of Bibiani Gold Stars, which eventually paid off with two goals before the recess.
Opoku superbly fired the lead in the 39th minute before Holy Stars’ lead was doubled by Tweneboah on the stroke of halftime.
Bibiani Goldstars took over possession in the second half with the hope of staging a comeback to return to Bibiani with a point, but their efforts proved unsuccessful as it ended in a 2-0 win for Holy Stars.
