Bechem United got back to winning ways with a narrow 1–0 home win over Heart of Lions in matchweek 20 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday afternoon.

The key moment came very early in the game. Captain Augustine Okrah scored in the fourth minute to give the Hunters a perfect start and what turned out to be the winning goal.

Looking to recover from recent losses, Bechem United began the match strongly. They kept the ball well and pressed high up the pitch. Before this game, they had won five of their last seven matches, even though they had suffered heavy defeats to Asante Kotoko in matchday 16 and Basake Holy Stars in matchweek 19.

Their strong start paid off when the experienced Okrah finished calmly to put Bechem in front and excite the home fans.

Heart of Lions tried to respond and had a few attacking moments, but they found it difficult to create clear chances against a solid Bechem defence.

As the match went on, Bechem United stayed organised and focused, defending their slim lead well. Despite late pressure from Heart of Lions, the hosts held on to take all three points.

The victory is Bechem United’s seventh of the season, leaving them with seven wins, four draws and nine losses after 20 matches. The win moves them up to ninth place on the league table with 25 points.

Heart of Lions, coached by Bashir Hayford, drop to seventh place with 27 points, after recording seven wins, six draws and seven defeats from 20 games.
