Young Apostles went back to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Swedru All Blacks at the Wenchi Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The home side started strongly and scored early in the ninth minute. Midfielder Richmond Opoku netted the only goal of the game to give Young Apostles the lead.
After scoring, Young Apostles stayed organised and defended well while keeping good control of the ball at times. The Black Magicians tried to fight back but found it difficult to create clear chances.
The visitors had six shots in the match, but none could break through the strong Young Apostles defence. The ‘Agya Na Ɔwɔ Tumi’ remained solid at the back and protected their lead until the final whistle.
As the game went on, pressure increased, but Young Apostles stayed calm and focused to secure all three points.
The win moves Young Apostles up to 14th place with 36 points after 29 matches, helping their fight to avoid relegation.
Swedru All Blacks drop to 15th place with 35 points, making their situation more difficult as the season continues.
Young Apostles will be happy with their strong defending and early goal, while Swedru All Blacks will regret not taking their chances.
