Young Apostles delivered a major setback to Bibiani Gold Stars’ Ghana Premier League title hopes after securing an impressive victory at the Wenchi Sports Stadium on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

The home side produced a dominant first-half performance that set the tone for the match and ultimately secured a crucial three points.

Young Apostles got off to a perfect start, taking firm control of the game before the interval. Claude Shooting Borrtey opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a brilliantly executed free-kick that left the Gold Stars goalkeeper with no chance.

The hosts continued to press forward and doubled their advantage just ten minutes later when Mattias Van Amegbe found the back of the net to give Apostles a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the break.

After the restart, Young Apostles maintained their dominance and effectively wrapped up the contest in the 72nd minute. Issah Husseine added the third goal to put the result beyond doubt and cap off an outstanding performance from the Wenchi-based side.

Bibiani Gold Stars managed to reduce the deficit deep into stoppage time when Godfred John Arthur scored a consolation goal, but it proved too late to change the outcome of the match.

Despite the defeat, the defending champions remain second in the league standings, just one point behind leaders Medeama SC, who also suffered a surprise loss to Hohoe United.

The victory provides a major boost for Young Apostles, lifting them to 14th place with 30 points, two points clear of the relegation zone. They will look to carry this momentum into their next fixture when they travel to face Basake Holy Stars.

Bibiani Gold Stars, meanwhile, will be aiming to respond positively when they travel to take on Karela United in their upcoming league encounter.
