Asante Kotoko SC are in an unfamiliar position of strength. There is an influx of unwanted players still been paid for doing little to nothing and increasing the wage bill of the club. Some of these players are young who are finding it extremely difficult to break into the Kotoko team but could thrive in another setting.

As sometimes can happen with transfers, it seems to have simply been a case of being in the wrong place at the right time for them. Perhaps a fresh start with other clubs would be of immense help to the players and Asante Kotoko in the not-too-distant future.

Kickgh.com attempts to pick out four players that should try to push through a brief move away from the Porcupine Warriors.

Clinton Opoku

The 20-year-old wonderkid has been tipped for a bright future in the game. He sparkled for Phar Rangers two seasons ago and was enough to land him a deal with the Porcupine Warriors. Sadly. He has struggled to replicate the form that made him one of the most exciting players in the Division One since joining Kotoko in September 2021.

Opoku is way behind the likes of Richmond Lamptey, Eric Serge Zeze and Enok Morrison in the pecking order. It wouldn’t be a bad idea if Opoku picks his bag and push for brief move away from Asante Kotoko.

Ernest Osei Poku

An attacking midfielder tipped for the top, but he has barely impacted at all at Kotoko. Poku is another who, like Opoku, needs game time to shine.

There’s no real way to say whether Poku could be of the standard required right now because he hasn’t had enough time to show what he can do. A temporary move away would be ideal, but he has a lot of work to do to impress enough to feature going forward.

Limited to the bench has stagnated his development. Poku needs games.

Shadrack Addo

Shadrack Addo has not had the best of times since his arrival from Panthers FC. The 21-year-old hasn't been able to fully establish himself in the squad, with the club more than willing to move him on... a loan move could be a blessing to both parties.

His talent is obvious, but he deserves to be more than a squad player.

Rocky Dwamena

Rocky Dwamena has been touted as the next big thing to happen to Kotoko. He can hold the ball up well and he can also make long driving runs with the ball through the midfield and into attack. If he develops his shooting, his tackling and passing ability then he could become the next Daniel Nii Adjei for the Porcupine Warriors.

He has seen games this season and has even netted once but a temporary move might be just the tonic for the youngster right now though. He's unlikely to want to drop down a division, so clubs in the topflight should be rushing to try and snap him up.

If Dwamena develops into the player the Kotoko faithful hope he does, then he would make an ideal midfielder for Kotoko.
