Aduana FC have expressed deep sorrow following the death of their player Dominic Frimpong, who was on loan at Berekum Chelsea.
The 20-year-old died after a reported armed robbery attack on the team bus following a Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex.
In a statement released on 13 April, Aduana FC said they were deeply saddened by the incident, describing it as a major loss to Ghana football.
“We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Dominic Frimpong, a player we proudly loaned to Berekum Chelsea. This is a devastating loss to both clubs and Ghana football as a whole,” the club said.
The Ogya club also extended condolences to Berekum Chelsea, the player’s family, teammates and all those affected.
Frimpong had been seen as a promising young talent and was making steady progress during his loan spell.
The incident has shocked the domestic game, with growing calls for better security for teams travelling for league matches.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
