Asante Kotoko etched their name into the history books on Saturday after clinching their first-ever away victory over Berekum Chelsea, a hard-fought 1-0 triumph at the Golden City Park.
The Porcupine Warriors had endured a 15-year winless run in Berekum, with their only two previous wins against Chelsea recorded at the Sunyani Coronation Park. For over a decade, the Golden City Park stood as an impenetrable fortress for the Blues whenever Kotoko came visiting.
That long wait finally ended in the 70th minute when Albert Amoah broke the deadlock. The in-form striker timed his run perfectly to meet Hubert Gyau’s incisive pass before calmly finishing to hand Kotoko a famous victory.
The result not only ends a frustrating jinx but also provides Kotoko with a huge morale boost as they set their sights on competing strongly for honours in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign.
