Asante Kotoko are in advanced talks to sign former Hearts of Oak midfielder Salim Adams, who is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract with the Phobians, Kickgh.com has learned.
The 22-year-old declined Hearts’ offer of a renewal, instead opting to seek a fresh challenge after three years in Accra. Adams initially joined Hearts in 2021 and quickly impressed, earning a season-long loan move to Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati.
Upon his return, he featured in the latter half of the 2023/24 campaign, contributing two goals and one assist in 14 appearances. Last season, he managed 10 league appearances and one goal before parting ways with the club.
Despite reported interest from clubs in Sweden and Serbia, Adams is said to be leaning towards a switch to the Porcupine Warriors, where he could reunite with head coach Karim Zito, who previously coached him in Ghana’s U-20 national team.
Kotoko have already begun discussions with the midfielder’s representatives and remain confident of finalizing a deal ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
The lanky midfielder, who started his career with New Edubiase United, is now poised for a potential move to the Baba Yara Stadium, where his composure and midfield presence could provide a major boost to Kotoko’s rebuild.
