Ethiopian forward, Abubeker Nassir has been linked with a move to Ghana Premier League side, Asante Kotoko in the ongoing transfer window.
The 24-year-old, who recently ended his stint with South African side Mamelodi Sundowns, has been invited for an assessment with the Ghana Premier League record champions.
Asante Kotoko are looking to strengthen their team ahead of the upcoming season after a trophy-less campaign last season and have identified Nassir as a possible addition to their squad should he impress the technical team.
Nassir, known as the Golden Boy of East African football, has been in Ethiopia after canceling his contract with Sundowns and could travel to Ghana this week where he will be provided with accommodation before his one-week trial period.
The 24-year-old joined Sundowns from Ethiopian Coffee at the beginning of the 2022/23 season after a stellar performance for the Eastern African country's top-flight football. Despite a good start in the Premier Soccer League, injuries limited him to just 18 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals in the process.
Nassir was part of Ethiopia's squad that took part in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon and has also played regularly for the national team in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
He scored 29 goals in 22 Ethiopian Premier League matches before his move to Sundowns and won the league's Most Valuable Player and Best Young Player accolades in the 2021-22 season.
