Asante Kotoko has decided not to renew the contract of defender John Tedeku, paving the way for him to leave the club as free agent.

The 22-year-old left-back joined the Porcupines in 2022 on a two-year deal with an option for an additional year under coach Seydou Zerbo.

However, Tedeku's contract was set to expire in August, and despite the option to extend it for another year, the club has opted not to do so.

His disappointing season, which was marred by injuries, saw him play just 12 games across all competitions and lose his place to Nicholas Osei Bonsu.

In his two seasons at Kotoko, Tedeku made 31 appearances in the Premier League scoring once, but it appears his time with the club has come to an end.

The decision not to renew his contract is a significant blow to the defender, who will now need to seek new opportunities elsewhere.
