Ashanti Gold SC goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda, says his side can still defend their league title if they are able to clinch all the maximum thirty points in the rest of their ten matches.
The former Orlando Pirates shot-stopper believes his outfit can still retain their league diadem if they are able to amass all the points in their subsequent game matches after accumulating 24points in the ongoing top-flight campaign.
"We're left with thirty points with ten game matches to go. If we're able to amass all the 30 points in addition to our accumulated 24 points, it can be possible that we can still win the league title by defending it for the second time," the no-nonsense net-minder told Kumasi-based radio station Angel FM.
"If a game is not played yet, you can't say you'll win every game until you're done with any match before you can be certain of what is before you as your target. So we're taking match after match," he added.
The 31-year-old last line of defense is optimistic finishing in the top four is not beyond his club reach following their resurgence of form in the second round of the league so far.
"Even if we're unable to win the league this season,at least finishing in the top four shouldn't elude us.Though, for now the points difference seems big, but relatively it's not above us catching up with the top clubs on the log sheet," he emphasized.
"Although, whilst you're preparing and planning on how to clinch every point at stake for the rest of your matches, your opponents too will be mapping up strategies on how to also build-up on their points. So, if you win and your opponents too win; the points difference will still remain the same," he noted.
"But, we shall still keep pushing for the title or at least finish in the top four and we're sure of achieving this target even though we all started the league at the same time." he declared.
Ashanti Gold are currently lying 10th on the league table with 24points.
