Asante Kotoko midfielder Baba Yahaya has tempered expectations for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, acknowledging the challenges faced last year and focusing on securing positive results.
After a disappointing sixth-place finish in the previous season, where Samartex emerged as champions, Kotoko has undergone a significant squad overhaul.
Despite these changes, Yahaya has refrained from promising the league title but remains optimistic about their performance.
“We can’t raise our expectations too high,” Yahaya said. “We’ve seen a lot of positives in our preseason, so we hope that reflects in the league.”
“We can’t promise the Ghana Premier League title, but we aim to secure maximum points in all our games, whether home or away.”
Asante Kotoko is currently in preparation for the 2024/25 season and has already achieved two victories in their preseason friendly matches.
The team will face Medeama on Friday in a friendly marking the inauguration of the newly built TNA Park in Tarkwa.
Kotoko will kick off their Premier League campaign against Karela United.
