Head coach of Heart of Lions Bashir Hayford has highly condemned the behaviour of Ghanaian football fans and referees, stating that it will continue to wade off people from watching the domestic league.

Coach Hayford was commenting on the incident that transpired during the Ghana Premier League matchday 28 game against Bechem United, which ended 1-1.

During the match at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park was marred by war chanting and brutal fighting between fans in the stands.

In a video which has found its way into the public domain, the veteran gaffer was seen carrying a chair onto the pitch, where he comfortably took a seat as supporters tussled in between rows to exchange brutal punches and tumble over the seats.

In an interview with Kumasi based Akoma 87.9, Coach Hayford explained why he took a seat on the pitch.

“I have been involved in Ghanaian football for thirty years, and never have I witnessed such behavior where supporters and team officials invade the pitch and threaten referees.

“This is precisely why people prefer to follow European football,” he highlighted.
