Head coach of Heart of Lions Bashir Hayford has admitted he is not sure if his team can turn things around before the end of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking after Sunday’s 1–0 defeat to Bechem United, which extended Lions’ winless run, Hayford said he is frustrated by the team’s sudden drop in form.
“Unfortunately, the same coach, the same players, the same training sessions and the same everything, but all of a sudden it went off,” he bellowed in frustration.
“We have tried and tried, but the same thing. It’s difficult.”
Heart of Lions made a strong start to the season, losing just once in their first 11 matches. However, their form has dropped sharply, with only one win in their last ten games.
The poor run has seen the 'Dzie Woa Nu' fall to seventh place on the league table, now 16 points behind leaders Medeama SC, ending any realistic title hopes.
However, Hayford said he is still searching for answers but does not know when a solution will come.
“We are trying to get the answers. Maybe we will get it before the end of the season, or maybe next season,” he added.
Heart of Lions now face a tough test at home against league leaders Asante Kotoko on Saturday, January 31.
