Ibrahim Tanko has described Medeama SC’s 2-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars in the Ghana Premier League as a major relief in their push for the title.

The result, achieved against the second-placed side, has strengthened Medeama’s position at the top as the season enters its final stretch with just four matches remaining.

Speaking after the game, Tanko admitted the win carried significant weight in the context of the title race.

“When you beat an opponent who is behind you, it’s a relief. We are now four games to go, and we are ahead, so we are looking forward. We needed the three points today. We wanted to score more, but what was important was the three points,” he said.

Despite the importance of the victory, Tanko insisted the job is far from done, warning that the remaining fixtures will be challenging as Medeama push to finish the season as champions.

“The four remaining matches won’t be easy. We are going to prepare very well. We want to win the league, and so definitely we need to keep fighting,” he added.

Medeama now turn their attention to their next crucial fixture against Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday, May 6, as the title race continues to intensify.
