Bechem United have confirmed the departure of head coach Stephen Desmond-Issah Botchway after a difficult opening spell to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign.
The Hunters decided to mutually part ways with Botchway following a run of just one win, three draws, and four defeats in their first eight league matches, a sequence that has left them 16th on the table with six points.
Appointed ahead of the new season, Botchway was brought in to steer Bechem back into the top half of the standings and re-establish their competitive advantage. However, a combination of inconsistent displays and struggles in front of goal saw the team fall short of expectations.
In an official club statement, Bechem United extended appreciation to Botchway and his assistant, Bright Anthony Konadu, for their service and professionalism during their tenure.
“The Club extends its sincere appreciation to both coaches for their dedication, professionalism and service during their time with Bechem United FC. Their efforts and contributions to the team’s development are deeply valued,” the statement read.
“Preparations are already underway to appoint a new technical direction aimed at improving performance and achieving our sporting objectives for the season. We wish Coach Desmond-Issah and Coach Bright the very best in their future endeavours.”
Bechem United are now expected to announce an interim technical team to lead the side as the club begins its search for a permanent replacement.
