The transfer hullabaloo of Berekum Chelsea wonderkid Kwesi Sorotu Badori to Swiss giants FC Basel has hit a snag, at least, for now.
Contrary to earlier reports suggesting the deal was all but done, fresh updates from sources close to the player’s camp indicate that no agreement has been finalized between the two clubs.
“Talks have taken place, but nothing has been signed. It’s premature to say the deal is done,” a source told Kickgh.com on Thursday.
Sorotu, 17, was one of the standout performers in the recently concluded 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season, making 28 appearances out of 34 games, netting one goal.
The young midfielder has got pace, flair, and eye for goal drawing attention from European scouts throughout the season. FC Basel had emerged as front-runners in the race for Sorotu who is set to turn 18 on January 1, 2026, his future is likely to be clarified in the months ahead.
However, insiders now reveal that key details are still under discussion, including transfer fee structure and potential add-ons.
Despite the uncertainty, interest in Sorotu continues to grow. Clubs in Belgium, Denmark, and Austria are said to be monitoring the situation closely, while domestically Asante Kotoko are sniffing around the camp of the Bibires, ready to swoop in should talks with Basel collapse.
