Head coach of Young Apostles FC, William Afoakwa has made a shocking and embarrassing statement that matches ain't won in the Ghana Premier League based on tactics but rather when you have referees rallying behind your club
There has been series of rumours around the Ghanaian game that, it is filled with bribery and corruption and that has really affected clubs in so many ways as you don't have to hire a competent coach to deploy proper tactics for winning matches but rather just have the referees on your side
William Afoakwa, the third coach to handle the Wench-based club this season after experienced Asare Bediako and Bashiru Rahim, confirmed this in a recent interview with Kumasi-based Sikka FM
"We the coaches in the Ghana Premier League are just following the team for it is the team owners and referees that are playing the matches."
Young Apostles in their debut season in the topflight managed to secure survival after finishing 14th in the league log with 40 points; amassed from 10 wins, 10 draws and 14 loses
The Yellow and Blues will look to strengthen their squad for the 2025/26 season having struggled a lot in their debut campaign and will definitely pick lots of experience from here
