The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has secured exclusive television rights to broadcast the Ghana Premier League for the next five seasons, according to Oyerepa FM.
GTV Sports+, GBC's dedicated sports channel, will be the official broadcaster of the league after successfully reaching an agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA). This deal comes after the GFA opened a new bidding window following the expiration of their previous contract with StarTimes last month.
GTV Sports+ emerged as the winner of the competitive bidding process, offering the best terms among the participating media companies.
The GBC will enter into a five-year agreement with the GFA, valued at $2 million, making them the exclusive television rights holder for both the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup, according to the report.
This partnership marks a significant development in the coverage of Ghanaian football, promising increased visibility and accessibility for fans across the nation. Further details of the deal are expected to be announced soon.
