Asante Kotoko interim head coach Abdul Karim Zito has boldly launched “Operation 18 Points” as he begins his tenure with the goal of securing maximum points in the club’s remaining Ghana Premier League matches.

Zito, who replaces the ousted Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, takes charge at a challenging time for the Porcupine Warriors, who have failed to win any of their last four matches and currently sit fourth on the league table with 47 points from 28 games.

Speaking during his official unveiling in Kumasi on Wednesday, April 23, the experienced coach made it clear that his focus is solely on grinding out results to reignite Kotoko’s title ambitions.

“Fans must be content with only winning,” Zito asserted. “All we are after is to win and get back to the top. It’s not about playing ‘fine, fine’ football now. It’s about who wins. That’s the struggle ahead of us.”

He continued, “Operation 18 points — I like taking it one match at a time.”

Zito’s six-game mission begins with a high-stakes clash against Aduana FC on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium, a fixture that could significantly influence the club’s final league standing.

Known for his tactical discipline and motivational leadership, Zito recently led Dreams FC to a historic CAF Confederation Cup semi-final and guided Ghana’s U-20 team to victory in the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
