Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Sarfo Gyamfi has welcomed the dismissal of Prosper Narteh Ogum as head coach of the Porcupine Warriors, after a string of uninspiring performances in the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

Gyamfi believes the decision to get rid of the ex-WAFA boss has come at an appropriate time as any reluctance could have further initiated a downward trajectory for the team

Speaking to GhanaSportsPage, Gyamfi said he was least surprised about the development as in his view Ogum at a time lost the dressing room

According to Sarfo Gyamfi, Ogum's record of 13 wins, 7 losses and 8 draws in 22 games in his second stint at Kotoko is nothing good to joke with.

“With what I hear from the dressing room, there are a lot of issues between the players and the coach, like some reports suggested earlier.

“I’m sorry to disclose this, but as a footballer, if your coach commends you in training and pushes you to work hard, even if you make mistakes, you feel encouraged. But when a coach resorts to insults, calling players uncivilized breaks the spirit. It was better for him to leave."

Gyamfi added: “If I had the power, I would have sacked him long ago. He signed a lot of players, but the problems still remained."
