Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara, has confirmed that defender Denis Nkrumah Korsah will not be part of the team for the upcoming season.
Korsah, the former captain of Ebusua Dwarfs, was notably absent on Sunday when Hearts of Oak faced Heart of Lions in the 2024 Gbese Mantse Homowo Charity Peace Cup. The Phobians secured the trophy after a tense penalty shootout victory following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
After the match, Ouattara revealed that Korsah is no longer with the squad as they prepare for the new campaign.
“We are in a new era, and this time, it is not about names. The names are not important. It is a strategy we are putting in place to fit everyone,” the Ivorian tactician stated. He also mentioned that while Michael Ampadu missed the game due to injury, Korsah is no longer part of the team.
Korsah joined Hearts of Oak in 2022 from Ebusua Dwarfs after a standout performance. He played a key role in helping the club secure both the FA Cup and President Cup in 2022.
His impressive displays also earned him his maiden call-up to the Ghana national team that same year.
Now 28, Korsah is expected to find a new club before the start of the Ghana Premier League season.
