Head coach of Heart of Lions, Bashir Hayford, has described his side’s goalless draw with Hearts of Oak as a fair outcome, insisting the result accurately reflected the balance of play.

The two sides battled it out at the Kpando Sports Stadium in their Ghana Premier League Week 26 clash, with both teams pushing for all three points but ultimately unable to find the breakthrough.

Despite the intensity of the encounter, solid defensive displays from both sides ensured the game ended in a stalemate.

Reacting after the match, Hayford praised both teams for their organization, particularly at the back, noting how difficult it was to break each other down.

“I think this result is a true reflection of the game,” he said. “Hearts of Oak were very solid defensively, and we were also disciplined at the back. Both teams tried to use the midfield to create openings, but it wasn’t easy.”

The experienced tactician admitted that while victory would have been ideal, he was content to take a point from a tightly contested match.

“Half a loaf is better than none. We will take the point and move on,” he added.

The result sees Heart of Lions remain ninth on the Ghana Premier League table, while Hearts of Oak stay in third place. However, the Phobians’ position in the top four could come under threat depending on results from other fixtures later in the weekend.
