Bibiani GoldStars Chief Executive Officer Kwasi Adu has defended the club’s controversial decision to part ways with head coach Frimpong Manso, despite his historic achievement of guiding them to their first-ever Ghana Premier League title.

Manso, who transformed the Miners from relegation battlers into league champions in just two seasons, also secured GoldStars’ maiden qualification for continental competition. However, his surprise dismissal has drawn sharp criticism from supporters and pundits alike.

In an interview with Akoma 87.9 FM, Adu pointed to the global football landscape to justify the decision, referencing the high-profile sackings of Portuguese tactician José Mourinho.

“Even José Mourinho was sacked, so how much more Frimpong Manso?” Adu remarked, stressing that no coach’s job is guaranteed, regardless of past successes.

The CEO explained that the decision was based on broader organizational considerations rather than recent on-field setbacks, including the club’s 2-0 CAF Confederation Cup defeat to Algerian side JS Kabylie.

“The decision to part ways with Coach Frimpong Manso goes beyond football,” Adu noted, hinting at philosophical differences between the coach and the club’s hierarchy.
