The Porcupine Warriors are in pole position of announcing the acquisition of the former Ghana U20 shot-stopper in the ongoing transfer window.

Reigning Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko have reached an agreement with Accra Lions over the signing of Frederick Asare ahead of their 2022/23 season's campaign.

The management of Asante Kotoko officially expressed interest in securing the signature of the 23-year-old custodian as replacement for Kwame Baah, who has left the club following the expiration of his contract.

Kickgh.com can exclusively report that Asare will be announced as Asante Kotoko's new player by the club in the coming days after an agreement was reached on Wednesday.

With 13 clean sheets in 28 games for his side in their debut season, Asare emerged one of the best net-minders in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

His performances didn't go unnoticed as he earned a call-up into the Black Galaxies to prepare for the CHAN qualifier against Benin later this month.

Asare drew praise from fans and pundits alike with his excellent display in the sticks when Accra Lions hosted Kotoko in a 1-1 stalemate at the Accra Sports Stadium.
