Asante Kotoko have appointed youth team coach Mohammed Hamza Obeng to take temporary charge of the first team following the resignation of interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu.

The club confirmed in an official statement that Owusu stepped down from his role with immediate effect, citing the best interest of the club in his resignation letter.

His departure comes after a challenging period for the Porcupine Warriors.

With the vacancy created, Kotoko have moved quickly to hand responsibility to Obeng, who will oversee the team for the remainder of the season as management works on further decisions regarding the technical direction of the club.

The club also expressed appreciation to Owusu for his service, dedication and commitment during his time in charge, while wishing him well in his future endeavours.

Mohammed Obeng now faces the immediate task of steadying the team and improving results as they prepare to take on Hohoe United in the next round of matches.
