Asante Kotoko have announced that their interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has stepped down from his role with immediate effect.
The former Inter Allies gaffer took over just few months ago after the jettisoning of Abdul Karim Zito.
In an official club statement, the Reds confirmed that the coach submitted his resignation, explaining that the decision was taken in the best interest of the club amid ongoing challenges.
The club expressed gratitude to Owusu for his service during his short stint in charge, acknowledging his dedication and commitment to the team.
“In his resignation letter, the coach stated that his decision was taken in the greatest interest of the club,” the statement read, while also wishing him well in his future endeavours.
Kotoko further announced that youth team coach Hamza Obeng will take charge of the team on an interim basis for the remainder of the season, as the club works on further arrangements.
The development comes at a difficult time for the Porcupine Warriors, with the club expected to make key decisions in the coming weeks as they seek to stabilize performances and finish the season strongly.
Now on a three-game winless run with two loses in between, the Porcupine Warriors are now preparing for their next league game against Hohoe United on April 26, 2026.
