Ibrahim Tanko has acknowledged the quality of Hearts of Oak ahead of this weekend’s Ghana Premier League showdown but insists Medeama Sporting Club are ready to rise to the occasion when the two sides meet in Tarkwa.

The Medeama head coach is under no illusion about the task facing his team, particularly given Hearts’ recent record against them. However, Tanko believes strong home support at the TnA Stadium and his side’s encouraging form could tilt the balance in their favour.

Medeama approach the fixture in solid shape, having recorded two wins and three draws from their last five league matches. That run has helped them maintain a strong position near the top of the table as the league enters a crucial phase.

Speaking to Medeama TV ahead of the encounter, Tanko praised the Phobians while expressing confidence in his players’ readiness.

“Hearts is a very strong side. I’m sure the boys are ready to take the fight. We are playing at home and we want to maintain our position at the top. It’s not going to be easy, but we are ready. The boys are ready to deliver,” he said.

Tanko also recalled Medeama’s defeat to Hearts of Oak in Tarkwa last season, admitting that result adds extra motivation as his team seeks redemption in front of their supporters.

Medeama will host Hearts of Oak on Saturday, January 4, at the TnA Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 5:30 pm, in what promises to be a tense and highly competitive evening of Ghana Premier League football.
