Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has acknowledged the quality of Hearts of Oak while expressing confidence in his side’s ability to rise to the occasion when the two teams meet this weekend in Tarkwa.

The experienced tactician is fully aware of the threat posed by the Phobians, particularly given their recent success against Medeama, but believes home advantage and his team’s current form could prove decisive.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Tanko described Hearts as a formidable opponent but stressed that his players are mentally and physically prepared for the challenge.

“Hearts is a very strong side. I’m sure the boys are ready to take the fight. We are playing at home and we want to maintain our position at the top. It’s not going to be easy, but we are ready. The boys are ready to deliver,” he told Medeama TV.

Medeama head into the encounter on the back of a consistent run of form, having recorded two wins and three draws in their last five league matches. That sequence has kept them firmly in the mix at the top end of the Ghana Premier League table and strengthened belief within the camp.

Tanko also recalled Medeama’s defeat to Hearts of Oak in Tarkwa last season, a result that adds extra motivation as his side looks to settle scores and protect their home turf.

Medeama SC will welcome Hearts of Oak to the TnA Stadium on January 4, with kickoff scheduled for 5:30 pm, in what promises to be a tense and fiercely contested Ghana Premier League encounter.
