The Phobians were in command to secure a win after dolling out decent play against Accra Lions on Wednesday afternoon.

However, for the first time they allowed the 'Yen Nyinaa Dea' Boys defeat them in a Ghanaian top flight game since gaining promotion in 2021.

Ibrahim Issa was the hero on the day as he scored the only goal of the match in the 56th minute.

The robust defender dashed forward in a counter-attack to break the virginity of the game which later churned out to be the match winner.

"That's football. We started so well. We were even supposed to finish the game in the first half. We had some decent chances but we couldn't take them," a frustrated Phobian assistant coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru told the media after the match.

"In the second half, we continued before they scored so to me, I can't tell you the reason why. I don't know. Whether we lost focus or what. We kept trying but they defended so well. Their goalkeeper did very well so we have to congratulate them," he added.

Wednesday's defeat means the Accra giants have won only ones in their last five league matches this past weeks.

With eleven draws and nine defeats, Hearts of Oak have bagged just 35 points.
