Accra Hearts of Oak have congratulated goalkeeper Benjamin Asare for obtaining his maiden Black Stars call-up for the final two 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

The former Great Olympics safest-pair-of-hands who doubles as the clubs captain has featured in 18 games, conceded seven goals and managed twelve clean sheets.

His contributions and crucial saves have been pivotal in pushing Hearts of Oak to third position in the league standing.

Asare joins Medeama's Kamaradini Mamudu and Nation FC's Razak Simpson. The 32-year-old will fight for a starting berth with Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Wollacott.

However, after the squad announcement by head coach Otto Addo on Friday, Hearts of Oak took to X to say, "From hard work to history! Congratulations to our number one goalie Benjamin Asare on his call-up to the national team. Well-deserved. We wish him all the best."

The Black Stars will face Les Sao of Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT before travelling to Morocco to clash with Madagascar at the Grand Stade d'Al Hoceima on March 24.
