Hearts of Oak board members have faced intense scrutiny for their decision to hire former coach Martin Koopman, who recently parted ways with the club following a series of disappointing results.

In response to the growing controversy, board members Dr Nyaho Tamakoe, Vincent Sowah Odotei, and Alhaji Akanbi convened a press conference on Monday, December 4, vehemently defending their choice to appoint Koopman.

The board justified Koopman's selection based on his "experience and maturity," citing these attributes as the primary reasons for his appointment.

"We went in for Koopman because we were looking for a coach with maturity and a coach with experience," the board stated. "He came up on top of the list of coaches before he was hired."

Despite the board's robust defense of Koopman, the team's recent performance has fallen short of expectations. In match week 13, Hearts of Oak suffered a 1-0 defeat against Aduana Stars, relegating them to 9th place on the league table with 16 points after 13 games.

The Phobians are gearing up for a crucial encounter against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in their next league game, scheduled for December 10 at the Baba Yara Stadium, promising a thrilling clash.
