Heart of Lions forward Kwadwo Obeng Jnr has earned a spot in the Ghana Premier League Team of the Week for Week 9, following a standout performance in his team’s thrilling 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko on Sunday. 

The 26-year-old forward, who once played for Hearts of Oak, was the hero of the match, scoring the only goal of the game and handing the Porcupine Warriors their second consecutive defeat.

Obeng Jnr’s clinical finish was a testament to his ability to deliver in high-pressure moments, and his performance has been duly recognized with a place in the prestigious Team of the Week lineup.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA)-backed selection process, overseen by Fatau Dauda, also saw three key players from Hearts of Oak named to the Team of the Week. Hamza Issah, Kelvin Osei Asibey, and Benjamin Asare all made the cut after their stellar performances helped the Phobians secure a dominant 2-0 win over Medeama Sporting Club in a crucial Week 9 fixture.

The victory, which highlighted Hearts of Oak's growing strength in the league, further solidified their place among the league's elite teams.

The Week 9 Team of the Week recognizes standout players from across the league, with several other notable players earning inclusion for their exceptional displays. Emmanuel Sanja, Baba Salifu Apiiga, Aaron Quartey, Sadat Zumah Ibrahim, Walid Fuseini, Frank Amankwah, and Faisal Charwetey also made the roster for their contributions to their respective teams.
