Bibiani Goldstars say their victory over Accra Hearts of Oak proves they are serious contenders for the Ghana Premier League title.
Deputy Communications and Administrative Manager Joseph Oti Manu made the statement after Goldstars secured a 2-1 win over Hearts of Oak in Matchweek 24. It was their first victory against the Phobians since earning promotion to the top flight.
The result keeps the defending champions in second place and cuts the gap to league leaders Medeama SC to just one point.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Oti Manu praised his side’s performance and described it as a big moment for the club.
“It was a good weekend for us… it was a good game. The two teams played very well but let me congratulate Bibiani Goldstars for the massive win,” he said.
“Playing in Bibiani against Hearts usually ends in a draw, but we did everything right from management level and the fans were really ready.”
He added that the victory sends a clear message about the club’s ambitions.
“It tells you how ready and how serious we are. We are left with 10 games to end the season and we believe we are taking it game after game and we will see what happens in the next few months,” Oti Manu said.
