Hearts of Oak Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo, says the club would be delighted to see both goalkeepers Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbasi included in Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Asare cemented his place as the Black Stars first-choice goalkeeper after making his international debut in March 2025, going on to feature in all of Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers. However, he has struggled for playing time at club level since returning from an injury picked up in an international friendly against South Korea last November.

In his absence, Agbasi has impressed in goal for Hearts of Oak. The former Dreams FC shot-stopper made his debut against Swedru All Blacks on November 15 and has since retained the No.1 spot with a series of spine-cracking performances.

Despite Asare’s limited minutes, Opare Addo believes both goalkeepers have shown enough to be considered for the mundial.

“We want both Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbasi for the World Cup. Asare has already cemented his place, and Agbasi has proven his case,” he told Asempa FM.

Asare will now look to force his way back into contention when Hearts of Oak travel to face Hohoe United in their Matchday 18 fixture at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Saturday, January 10.
