Asante Kotoko SC have tasked assistant coach Prince Owusu to take over the club on interim basis for now and has called on the supporters for their usual backing and is very confident of a win in the Super-Clash.
The former Black Satellites coach has been the deputy since Karim Zito took over and decision came after the matter’s resignation following the team’s exit from the MTN FA Cup after a 4-2 penalty shootouts loss to Aduana FC in the round of 16.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently having a very difficult season as they are currently eight points away from the top-spot and could ensure a trophyless season if they don’t patch up all cracks as soon as possible
The former Black Satellites coach has been tasked to take over the vacant role on temporal basis for now and will be assisted by youth team coach Mohammed Hamza Obeng.
In an interview with Akoma FM, the acting head coach, who has previously worked with Sudanese side Al Khartoum and Inter Allies, pleaded with the supporters for their recent poor performance and assured them of a win in the Super-Clash this weekend.
“To the fans, we just want to apologize. They should just give us a chance to make some adjustments and get the team back into form.
“It’s not going to be an easy game, but we’re not going down. It’s Hearts of Oak, we know they will want to come here and fight us, but not this time around.”
Prince Owusu’s first assignment is against their sworn and eternal rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 17:00GMT (5:00pm)
