Asante Kotoko midfielder Nicholas Mensah has made a triumphant return to action after serving a suspension, featuring in the J.A Kufuor Cup clash against Nsoatreman FC at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Mensah, who played the full 90 minutes, expressed his delight at returning to the pitch after a year-long absence. Speaking to the club's media, he conveyed his joy at gradually regaining his fitness and expressed his determination to prove his worth to the team.

"This is my first 90 minutes after one year. I didn’t expect to play the entire game against Nsoatreman. I’m gradually regaining my fitness and hope to prove my worth for the club," Mensah remarked.

Despite his eagerness to make a significant impact against Nsoatreman, Mensah remained optimistic about contributing to the team's success in the upcoming matches.

As Kotoko gears up for the second half of the Ghana Premier League campaign, Mensah is expected to play a pivotal role in the midfield. The team, which experienced a challenging start to the season, showed significant improvement to finish third in the first half of the domestic top-flight campaign.

In light of their resurgence, Kotoko will face Heart of Lions in the week 18 fixture as they aim to maintain their momentum in the league.

Mensah's return to action comes after he served a 12-month ban for his involvement in a case of double identity.

Following investigations by the Disciplinary Committee of the FA, it was determined that Kotoko were not at fault, and Mensah and his former club, Damasua Delsanco FC, were charged accordingly.
