Ghana Premier League side, Hearts of Oak, has announced the appointment of Ivorian coach Aboubakar Ouattara as their new head coach.

The decision, endorsed by Alhaji Akambi, a distinguished member of the club's board, stems from their aspiration to reclaim their former glory in African football and vie for success in the esteemed CAF Champions League.

In a candid discussion with Richard Ntow Gyan on Fox FM in Kumasi, Akambi shed light on the rationale behind Ouattara's selection. He underscored the significance of aligning the coach's vision with the club's lofty ambitions, particularly in their quest for continental supremacy.

Akambi articulated, “There are a lot of things a team will look at before appointing a coach. Ghanaian coaches are equally good coaches, but they’re a lot of philosophies and other things we considered," he said.

He continued, "Looking at our idea of taking Hearts of Oak to the days where we conquered Africa, we needed a coach who had that experience. If you look at Ouattara, he has coached a lot of clubs in Africa and has won Champions League. When we played against WAC, he was with them. So he has the things we needed”

The appointment of Aboubakar Ouattara signifies Hearts of Oak's strategic move to fortify their coaching setup and embark on a journey towards reclaiming their status as a powerhouse in African football.
