Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko has lavished praises on his players for showing strong character after their narrow win over Debibi United in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The defending champions travelled to Debibi Presby Park for their Matchweek Five encounter after winning their previous two games.

Substitute Nana Kofi Babil scored in the 69th minute to give Medeama a 1-0 victory in a nerve cracking encounter.

The win keeps the Yellow and Mauves top of the league table with 11 points from five matches and extends their unbeaten start to the season.

Tanko was particularly pleased with the result because of the injury problems in his squad.

“It’s a very good feeling. Because of the nature of problems we have, we have a lot of injury players. But I think, and those who started today show a very good character, and then win here is very, very, very important for us,” Tanko told journalists.

Medeama will now prepare for their Matchweek Six meeting with Heart of Lions in Tarkwa as they look to maintain their strong start to the title defence.
